St. James Weekly Arrest Log
The sheriff's Crime Reports route is the official multi-day source. Each title covers a Monday-through-Sunday week. Consecutive reports appear one after another. That pattern points to a weekly cadence. The sheriff promises no fixed posting day.
A single report combines complaints handled by SJPSO, the Gramercy Police Department, and the Lutcher Police Department. It then names selected people booked into the St. James Parish Detention Center. Treat it as a parish-wide law enforcement summary. It is not a complete booking book, release register, live jail roster, or court docket. A weekly entry can sit in the archive long after a release or transfer.
Read St. James Arrest Reports
Start with the title's date range. That window marks publication, not the day each arrest happened. Next, separate the complaint total from the list of detention-center bookings. Some complaints never lead to an arrest.
- Open the official Crime Reports route and choose the Monday-through-Sunday period that includes the date of interest.
- Read the agency summary to see whether SJPSO, Gramercy Police, or Lutcher Police activity is included.
- Review the booking list for a name and age, then read the listed charge as a booked charge.
- Use the live LAVNS roster for present parish custody because an archived weekly item does not update into a release notice.
- Check the Clerk of Court criminal division for the later case, charging, hearing, plea, judgment, or disposition record.
An official weekly source feed sits behind the page. It confirms report titles and archive depth. For everyday reading, the human-facing page is easier.
St. James Log Entry Fields
The Crime Report carries a narrow field set. It favors the reporting period and an agency overview over jail processing details. No bond, release date, address, court date, or booking photo appears unless the report itself shows one. The inmate feed is richer, but different.
| Report element | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| Seven-day title | The Monday-through-Sunday period summarized by the post. |
| Incoming complaints | Combined agency activity, not the number of arrests. |
| Agency names | SJPSO, Gramercy Police, and Lutcher Police may contribute activity. |
| Booked person | A person identified as booked into the parish detention center. |
| Age | A detail used to distinguish people with similar names. |
| Booked charge | The charge listed at booking. |
| Report graphic | An illustration attached to the post, not a booking photograph. |
The official app custody record is a different animal. It can hold an inmate ID, exact booking and status timestamps, physical descriptors, charge metadata, and a signed image object. None of that comes from the weekly log. Both publish through sheriff systems, yet the fields are not interchangeable.
Three Agencies, One Booking Center
The weekly report captures a key local handoff. SJPSO, the Gramercy Police Department, and the Lutcher Police Department handle calls and arrests across the parish. Bookings go to the St. James Parish Detention Center. Town arrests still land in parish records and custody sources. Neither town runs its own jail.
That mix makes the parish report stronger than scattered city pages. Custody checks still belong with the sheriff's jail systems, whatever agency made the arrest. Convent is different. It lists no separate municipal police department, so sheriff channels are the path there.
- Arresting agency
- The office that reports or makes the arrest.
- Booking destination
- The detention center that processes the person into custody.
- Arrest log
- A dated agency summary, distinct from a live jail roster.
- Disposition
- The court’s later resolution of the charge.
St. James Blotter Publication
The official SJPSO Crime Reports page carries the series.

Reports appear as agency posts on that page. The attached graphics are report art. They should never be described as mugshots. The newest report summarized 1,072 incoming complaints across the named agencies for its week. That figure counts every complaint, not arrests. It is not a count of people booked into the detention center. Treating it as a booking total would misstate what the sheriff published.
Note: Cite the dated weekly post rather than a saved screenshot, since report content and order can change when confirming a person.
St. James Arrest Log Archives
The Crime Reports feed holds 96 entries. The span runs from the week of August 31 through September 6, 2026, back to October 28 through November 3, 2024. That is a multi-year online archive. It is not a retention promise. Nor is it a complete booking series, and old report URLs may not hold.
Older material starts with the SJPSO Public Information Officer. Put the request in writing. Name the person, the agency, and the date range. Say whether the item sought is a weekly Crime Report, booking entry, booking summary, jail register, incident report, or photograph. Louisiana R.S. 44:36 requires preservation for the controlling legal period or an approved schedule. That statute sets a baseline when nothing more specific applies. No published schedule covers booking photos.
The Louisiana State Archives retention schedule page explains agency schedules and disposal authorization, though State Archives is not a guaranteed home for each local booking record. Recent material stays an SJPSO inquiry first, while old court dockets and outcomes belong with the Clerk.

News Beyond St. James Logs
News coverage moves at its own pace. L’Observeur has run St. James investigation and arrest stories, and WWL and WAFB cover selected parish events. None of it adds up to a daily booking feed, though. A single article can linger online long after custody or charges shift. The L’Observeur St. James report shows how one agency statement can become a story. Treat these pieces as context around an arrest. Never count on them as a parish-wide roster of who was booked.

A news story only shows what one reporter chose that day. It is not a booking list. The WWL local-news section does carry regional public-safety pieces now and then, though St. James Parish items appear only sporadically. Treat a headline as a lead, not the record. Then confirm details with the sheriff and the court.
Unofficial St. James Arrest Archives
Third-party archives can supplement official St. James Parish sources. They cannot replace them. Two sites maintain St. James sections: RecentlyBooked and Louisiana Arrests.org. They help when you are chasing an older date or a copied booking item. The catch is that entries run stale, get duplicated, or fall out of step with what a court later filed. The RecentlyBooked St. James section describes a rolling 30-day collection. It also claims refreshes several times daily. Neither site speaks for the sheriff, the jail, the clerk, or any court.

Louisiana Arrests.org sorts its county archive by year, month, and day. The site itself makes no accuracy claim. So skip these archives for custody questions. Check the roster for who is in custody. Ask the court about an outcome.
Verify St. James Arrest Outcomes
A weekly arrest item is a snapshot of what an agency reported in one period. It does not update itself. Nothing changes in that entry when a person bonds out, moves to another facility, or faces a different filed charge. For live custody status, use the sheriff's current-custody search described in the Daily Arrest Report. Case history belongs to the St. James Parish Clerk of Court criminal division. Note: the clerk's advertised online portal covers conveyance and mortgage records, not criminal case images.
Custody can also shift to the state level. A person booked in St. James may later sit in Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections custody, which the DOC locator tracks. That locator covers only its own state-custody or supervision slice. Federal prison and immigration locators cover separate systems entirely. Missing from one system never disproves a St. James arrest recorded in another.
